Telehandler Safety Of Paramount Importance 11/03/2008
It is clear that whenever operating construction machinery and equipment, safety is of paramount importance. This is equally the case when operating telehandlers. OSHA regulations require operators of telehandlers to pass an operating test before using the telehandler.
It should be noted that before this rule relating to telehandlers was enforced, it was apparent that there was a potential for the operation of telehandlers to become unsafe.
Courses enforced by OSHA regarding the operation of telehandlers are essential and it has been reported that it is the responsibility of the telehandler operator’s employer to ensure that the relevant safety handling for telehandler operation is enforced.
It should be noted that while the completion of a telehandler safety course can be seen to go a long way in assisting the safe implementation of telehandler use, it is also an ongoing awareness of health and safety relevant protocols which ensure the safe utilisation of telehandlers.
High voltage lines should be noted before using a telehandler, as telehandler-related tasks may involve transporting items to elevated heights. Additionally, it is integral that the right load is matched to the right telehandler, to ensure that the telehandler operator is aware of the height which each specific load can be lifted.
